What do blinds actually cost in Pakenham?

The short answer.

In Pakenham in 2026, made-to-measure blinds run from about $120 for a basic roller blind to around $520 for a wide timber venetian. Almost nobody buys one blind though, so the number that matters is the whole-home figure. For a typical three to four bedroom house in this corridor, done throughout in roller blinds, budget $2,400 to $5,500 supplied and installed including GST. Where you land inside that range depends on how many windows you have, how wide they are, and how much of the house gets the upgraded products.

Those are fitted prices for a standard domestic window, including GST. A very wide window, a very tall drop, or a premium fabric will sit above the top of a range; a small bedroom window in a standard fabric will sit below the middle.

Worked example: a Cardinia Lakes four-bedroom.

Take a typical newer four-bedroom estate home: four bedrooms, an open-plan living and dining, a kitchen with a window over the sink, a study, two wet rooms and a stacker door to the alfresco. That is around 16 openings once you count the lot.

• Four bedrooms in blockout rollers: $480 to $900
• Double roller (sunscreen over blockout) across living and dining, three windows plus the stacker: $760 to $1,600
• Kitchen, study and two wet rooms in light-filter rollers or aluminium venetians: $520 to $1,100
• Remaining hall and entry windows: $200 to $500

Total: roughly $2,600 to $4,600 supplied and installed. Swap the four west-facing living and dining windows to honeycomb and add about $500 to $900. Motorise the stacker blind and the three living-room blinds and add $600 to $1,400. That is how a $2,600 job becomes a $6,500 job without anyone being unreasonable, and it is why we quote room by room so you can see exactly which upgrades you are paying for.

Worked example: a central Pakenham three-bedroom.

Now take an older central Pakenham weatherboard or brick home: three bedrooms, a separate lounge, a kitchen and meals area, one bathroom and a laundry. Fewer windows, around 10, but they are non-standard sizes and rarely square, and several are timber double-hung frames that suit a face-fixed outside mount.

Total: roughly $1,400 to $2,600. An older home usually comes in cheaper than a new estate home for the simple reason that it has fewer and smaller windows. Where it costs more is when the openings are badly out of square and need an outside mount with a wider blind, or when you choose timber venetians to match existing joinery, which can push the lounge alone to $1,000 or more.

What actually drives the price.

Window width, not window count.

People estimate by counting windows. Manufacturers price by size. A 2.7 metre living-room window can cost as much as three bedroom windows, because it uses more fabric, a heavier tube and stronger brackets. Two of those in an open-plan living area will move a whole-house quote by several hundred dollars on their own.

Fabric grade and function.

Blockout, sunscreen and light-filter fabrics are priced differently, and inside each category there are entry, mid and designer ranges. Choosing a mid-range blockout over an entry one across 15 windows is typically a $300 to $700 decision. Operation.

Corded is cheapest, cordless (spring or wand) is a small step up, motorised is $150 to $350 per blind. Note that corded internal blinds must comply with the mandatory ACCC safety standard, which we cover in child-safe blinds. If you have small children, cordless is worth budgeting for from the start rather than retrofitting.

Channels, pelmets and the extras.

Side channels close the light gaps at the edge of a blockout blind and stop wind rattle, and typically add $60 to $140 per window. A pelmet hides the roll and improves insulation. Neither is compulsory, but both are worth knowing about before you compare two quotes that look different for no obvious reason.

Why made-to-measure costs more than a boxed blind.

You can buy cheaper blinds off the shelf, but they come in standard widths and get trimmed on site. In a new Officer estate home the openings are close enough to square that you might get away with it. In an older central Pakenham or Koo Wee Rup weatherboard, where the opening can be 10mm narrower at the sill, they hang crooked and leak a wedge of light down one side. Made-to-measure means the blind is manufactured to your opening and fitted square, and that is most of what you are paying for.

How to make a quote comparable.

Ask every supplier for the same four things in writing: the fabric name and range, the operation type, the mount type (inside or outside), and whether installation and GST are included. A quote with those four details can be compared line by line. A single number for "blinds throughout" cannot.
